EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (2-0-0, 6 pts.) hosts Copa Tejas rival San Antonio FC (1-0-1, 4 pts.) on Sunday, May 16 at H-E-B Park, presented by Puma. The matchup is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CST on ESPN+.
The first 500 fans to enter H-E-B Park will get a FREE Puma rally towel. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.RGVFC.com.
RGV FC: The Toros are currently on a two-game winning streak and have yet to concede a goal. The 41-year-old veteran Vicente Sanchez made history last home game against SD Loyal SC after scoring a late header goal that made him the oldest player to have scored in club and league history. Tyler Deric has totaled five saves, while keeping two clean sheets - ranking him tied at first in the USL Championship. Rodrigo López leads the league with seven created chances, being key for the Toros midfield.
SAFC: San Antonio's Santiago Patiño leads second in the USL with three goals scored, after scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in their season opener. Most recently, SAFC drew 2-2 with Real Monarchs SLC. Matt Cardone at goal has kept one clean sheet while conceding two goals. With a potent attacking side and Cardone at the goal, SAFC is looking to bounce back and earn a win against RGV FC.
