Rome Renegades News Release
ROME, Ga. - The Rome Renegades of the American Indoor Football League announced that NIFL All-star, Prentice Purnell will sign a two year contract with the Georgia Force on Tuesday, October 4 at the Falcons/Force complex in Flowery Branch. Purnell is projected to be a lineman for the Force and will be expected to play on both sides of the ball as standard according to arena football rules.
"We are extremely excited about the opportunity Prentice has to advance his football career to the next level with the Georgia Force," said head coach and chief operations officer, David Humphreys.
Purnell is a native of Cochran, Georgia and a graduate of Blakely County High School. He played college ball at West Georgia and began playing with the Renegades in April of the team's inaugural season. Purnell contributed greatly to the defensive successes of the Atlantic Conference Champion Renegades team, named second in the league for sacks and third in the league for red zone defense. Season highlights include Purnell's assistance in holding the Lakeland Thunderbolts to seven points during the first round of the playoffs and a 3 solo tackles and 1 sack single game high against Fayetteville in May. Purnell also had an outstanding game in Odessa, Texas during the NIFL All-Star game in July.
"As much as we would love to keep Prentice, our job is to help him move on and fulfill his goals in professional football. He is certainly one that will continue to make us proud," said Humphreys. "We hope that Prentice will be the first of many, and we look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with the Georgia Force. It is beneficial for both teams to work together, and we are excited about the future," said Humphreys.
