Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (August 9, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have re-signed defenseman Bobby Preece. Per club policy, no contract terms were announced.

As a rookie last season, Preece, 26, scored three times and totaled 17 points in 56 games with the Mallards. The 6' 2", 205-pound Bonita Springs, Florida, native was tied for fourth on the team in plus/minus rating (+5).

"Bobby and Darren McMillan did a good job last season as a shutdown defense pair and I expect the same this season," said Mallards head coach and general manager David Bell. "I look forward to watching Bobby build off his strong rookie season."

Preece joined the Mallards after spending four years at Bentley University. As a senior in 2009-10, Preece scored eight goals and totaled 25 points while registering 118 penalty minutes. Over the course of his college career, Preece notched a dozen goals and 57 points in 126 games. In 2008-09, he collected 24 points while helping Bentley to the best season in the Falcons' 12-year Division I history.

Before heading to Bentley, Preece spent three seasons in the junior ranks with the North American Hockey League's Fargo-Moorhead Jets.

Preece joins McMillan, Obi Aduba, Jared Brown, Brad Fogal, Eric Giosa, Joel Gasper, Jason Kostadine, Karl Linden, Brandon Marino, David McKee and Quinn Waller to bring the number of signings announced by the Mallards for the 2011-12 season to 12.

Season tickets for the Flock's 2011-12 campaign are now on sale. Mallard season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. For more season ticket information, fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com.
