Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO - Last week quarterback Collin Drafts (6'3, 215, Charleston Southern) and wide receiver Nate Forse (6'4, 220, California PA) were signed by the Orlando Predators for the 2012 season, along with rookie fullback Javorskie Lane (5'11, 270, Texas A&M).
Drafts enters his third year in the Arena Football League and second with the Predators. Forse spent his first two seasons in the AFL with the Milwaukee Mustangs and Arizona Rattlers.
In 2011, Drafts made three starts at quarterback with the Preds, passing for 618 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions on 54 of 84 attempts in 13 games. He had a season-long completion of 40 yards and threw for 313 yards on 50 attempts July 9 on the road against San Jose.
Drafts also rushed eight times for 53 yards and two touchdowns while also being credited with three tackles on special teams.
Drafts joins Trevor Harris on the Preds depth chart at quarterback entering 2012 for new head coach Bret Munsey.
"Once last season ended one of my main goals was to see about returning to the Predators," Drafts said. "We've got the best fans and the best arena here in this city. I've enjoyed my time down here and am excited about the opportunity to return and play for Coach Munsey."
Drafts said that the relationships he's formed on and off the field since joining the Preds played a major role in deciding where he wanted to be during the upcoming season. He spent his rookie season in the AFL with the Dallas Vigilantes in 2010.
"It's unbelievable the support this team gets from its fans," Drafts said. "That's one of the things that attracts players to Orlando."
Since the 2011 season ended Drafts has been busy leading Olympia High School to its first district football title as the team's new offensive coordinator. Olympia hosts Timber Creek in the second round of the Class 8A state playoffs on Friday.
Prior to joining the AFL, Drafts spent two seasons in arenafootball2 with the Tri-Cities Fever and Green Bay Blizzard, throwing for a combined 2,545 yards and 48 touchdowns.
A three-year starter at Charleston Southern, he led the Buccaneers to a share of Big South Championship in 2005 while earning Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He finished his collegiate career with 7,546 yards passing and 62 touchdowns to go along with 840 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns.
Forse was limited to six games for Arizona in 2011 due to injury. He made five starts and finished with 19 receptions for 212 yards (11.2) and six touchdowns, with a season-long reception of 20 yards.
In 2010 as rookie in Milwaukee, he finished with 111 receptions for 1,389 yards and 27 touchdowns in 12 games. Forse was named to the All-arenafootball2 First Team as a member of the Green Bay Blizzard in 2009 after logging 131 receptions for 1,875 yards and 28 touchdowns. The record-breaking season in Green Bay earned him a private workout with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Forse transferred to California (PA) from West Virginia University in 2005. He led Cal in receiving for three consecutive seasons, earning All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors with a career-best 59 catches for 804 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior year.
Lane rushed for 2,193 yards and school-record 49 touchdowns on 489 attempts at Texas A&M (2005-08), while averaging 4.5 yards per carry for his career. He led the Big 12 with 19 touchdowns as a sophomore and ranked second with 16 touchdowns as a junior. In 2007, he rushed for 780 yards and recorded 12 receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Lane went on to compile 326 all-purpose yards for 12 touchdowns with West Texas Roughnecks of the Indoor Football League.
