2012 Season to be Coined the "Year of the Fan"

TULSA - The 25th Anniversary of the Arena Football League will be coined the "Year of the Fan," the League office announced today.
"This season, we want to give back to our loyal fans that have been passionately following the game over the years," AFL Commissioner Jerry B. Kurz said. "Because of those fans, we are celebrating the 25th season of Arena Football."
Promotions will run throughout the season to thank fans for their loyalty and passion for Arena Football.
"On a weekly basis, fans will have the opportunity to win prizes. Being known as the most fan-friendly League and 'In Your Face Football,' a number of these prizes will bring fans even closer to the game. We'll be awarding fans with pre-game field passes, locker room tours, meet and greets and more," Kurz said.
The first of these promotions will enable Arena Football fans to submit nominations and vote on a number of "Top 25" lists, among them being the Top 25 players, teams, games and uniforms of the last 25 Arena Football seasons. Weekly participation prizes will be awarded to select fans for each voting category on ArenaFootball.com.
In addition to the fan poll, a committee consisting of long-time League executives, media members and former players will vote on the fan nominations. Fans will have the opportunity to win a chance to serve on the committee as well. The results of the fan poll and committee vote will be compared on ArenaFootball.com.
Fan prizes for the voting will include opportunities to win a 25th Anniversary game ball, pre-game field passes, season tickets, single game tickets, autographed items, AFL apparel and a membership to the new AFL Fan Club, which will be launched for the 2012 season.
During the "Year of the Fan," fans will have the opportunity to join the AFL Fan Club, dubbed "AFL Field Pass." This exclusive fan club will feature behind the scene access, player and coach blogs, contests, discounts, a newsletter and more.
A new feature will also be added to ArenaFootball.com entitled, "Fanographies," in which fans may submit their personal stories about being a fan of Arena Football. Fans will be able to write articles, send photos or even record their own videos to illustrate why they love Arena Football and what makes them the most devoted fan. Stories may be sent to contest@arenafootball.com where a vote will determine which fan will serve on the voting committee and receives the "Ultimate 25th Anniversary Experience."
The Silver Anniversary of the Arena Football League will not only celebrate 25 years of hard-hitting, high-scoring football, but also 25 years of passionate and loyal fans.
