PrairieThunders' eleven game unbeaten streak comes to an end

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder's franchise-record 11-game unbeaten streak came to an end Wednesday at Wings Stadium as Kalamazoo earned a 6-3 victory in International Hockey League action.
The loss dropped Bloomington's record to 20-23-1-3 (44 points), while the Wings improved to 28-19 (56 points). The PrairieThunder returns to action Friday with a 6 p.m. contest at Muskegon.
Kalamazoo erupted for five goals in the second period to wipe out a 3-1 first-period deficit.
Anthony Battaglia started the onslaught with an unassisted power play goal with 10:24 remaining. Justin Cross followed with the game-tying goal 78 seconds later off assists by Glenn Detulleo and Rick Cleaver.
Detulleo then gave the Wings a 4-3 advantage at the 4:16 mark with assists to Justin DePretis and Lucas Drake. Blair Manning added the next Kalamazoo goal with 2:23 left in the period on assists by Cross and Battaglia.
Kalamazoo's final goal of the period came nine seconds later on Jordan Little's goal with an assist to Detulleo.
Bloomington owned a 3-1 lead after the first period as rookie Bill Bagron, Brett Holmberg and Jon Booras netted goals.
Bagron's goal put Bloomington on the scoreboard first at the 14:57 mark off assists by Travis Granbois and Shaun Fisher. The lead was short-lived, though, as Kalamazoo's Lucas Drake tied the game 52 seconds later on an unassisted goal.
Holmberg put the PrairieThunder back in front with a power play goal at the 11:31 mark with assists to Marty Standish and John Nail. Booras' goal with 8:33 remaining completed the scoring in the period off assists by Henry Kuster and Jan Jas.
The PrairieThunder killed off three power play opportunities by the Wings in the final seven minutes. Bloomington played with a man in the penalty box six of the final seven minutes and found itself with a two-man disadvantage for a combined 45 seconds.
Goaltender Jason Wolfe suffered his first loss with the PrairieThunder. He stopped 30 of 36 shots, while winning goalie Joel Martin swatted away 26 of 29 shots.
