BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder looks to begin the New Year with a fresh start Saturday at iwireless Center in Moline when it meets the Quad City Mallards in a 7:05 p.m. International Hockey League play.
Bloomington holds a 5-2-0-1 record against Quad City this season, but is 0-2-0-1 on the Mallards' home ice. The PrairieThunder, which has lost four in a row at home, enters the game in fourth place in the standings with a 14-10-2-2 record and 32 points.
Quad City 9-14-4-2 with 24 points and tied for sixth with Flint. The Mallards have won three of their last four games with the lone setback coming in a shootout at Port Huron. Quad City earned a 6-1 triumph over Muskegon in its last outing. Port Huron and Muskegon are tied for the league lead.
The PrairieThunder, which is winless in its last three games, is coming off a 5-1 defeat at Fort Wayne in its last game. Bloomington's last victory was a week ago with a 6-0 verdict against Quad City at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Thunder rumbles: Craig Macdonald is third in the league in scoring with 33 points, while Bloomington teammate Jon Booras (28) is seventh.
Defenseman Brian Boulay underwent successful shoulder surgery Thursday to repair a torn labrum. He is expected to be out of action for two months.

B2 network: The Quad City game can be seen live on the b2 network at Six Strings Entertainment Center, 512 N. Main Street, Bloomington. Doors open two hours prior to broadcast. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
