BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey team has joined forces for a second straight year with libraries in Central Illinois to promote reading among kids, teens and adults through the nation-wide summer "Read on the Wild Side" program.

Anyone completing the reading program through their local library will receive a voucher good for one free ticket to the PrairieThunder's home-opening regular season game (TBA) at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

In addition to the free ticket, participants who complete the program will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discounted price.

"We were extremely pleased with our participation and the results of the reading program the first year," said Josh Bartolazzi, head of ticket sales for the PrairieThunder. "Not only were we able to promote reading among all age groups, but we were also able to reward the readers with an enjoyable night at a professional hockey game."

Last year, over 3,000 readers redeemed vouchers for free tickets.

"The PrairieThunder vouchers are a great addition to the prize lineup for those who complete the Summer Reading Program," said Rhonda Massie, marketing manager of the Bloomington Public Library.

"It's especially beneficial that the PrairieThunder awards the vouchers to participants of all ages because it affords an entire family the opportunity to attend the game at no cost."
