(OSHAWA, ON) On Wednesday, December 12th, members of the Oshawa Power Basketball club lent a helping hand to youth at the South Oshawa Community Centre as part of their annual Christmas dinner.

In addition to the turkey dinner, upwards of about 50 children ages 10-18 attended and received a gift from Santa and of course candy canes.

"The City of Oshawa's South Oshawa Community Centre's Youth Room Christmas Dinner was once again a resounding success thanks in part to the appearance of the Oshawa Power Basketball Club", said program supervisor Amber Collins.

Since 2007, the staff and volunteers have hosted a full course homemade turkey dinner with all the trimmings, homemade cranberries, stuffing, and Yule logs.

Collins added, "It meant a lot having the guys there, their presence was a great surprise for the kids and the kids that attended the dinner couldn't stop talking about how fun it was to meet the players and get their pictures taken!"

Oshawa Power guard, Larry Diamond said, "It's important as athletes and role models that we give back. Our future belongs to the youth so it's important that we encourage and support them for the long term sustainability of our community."
