
Power Derail Express, Improve to 6-8

(Mississauga, ON) - The Power defeated the Express 99-88 tonight and have won three of the last four games, improving to 6-8. Dwight McCombs had 20 points and 9 rebounds while Alex Johnson chipped in with 15 points and a career high 9 assists. Darren Duncan poured in 21 points and 10 assists for Windsor.
The Power played a very strong first half, holding the Express to 41% shooting and building a 54-39 lead heading into the break. McCombs returned to his early season form, contributing 14 points and 7 rebounds entering the third quarter after struggling in his last two games.
The Windsor Express came out of halftime a completely new team, outscoring the Power 29-20. Stefan Bonneau led the charge for Windsor, scoring 10 points in the quarter. The game came down to the final seconds as Windsor was down by six points with 42.5 seconds left in the game. The Power played tough defense down the stretch and hung on for the 99-88 win.
"It felt good to get back on track. We couldn't stop their bigs last game but we managed to grab a lot more rebounds tonight," explained Dwight McCombs. "At the end of the day, everyone can score in this league but defense wins games and we really got that done tonight."
The Power head off to London for a 7 p.m. tip off against the Lightning tomorrow before returning home Sunday at 4 p.m. to face the Ottawa SkyHawks for Filipino Cultural Night to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan relief.
