Uniondale, NY - Krista Davey's game-winning goal, her second in as many weeks, came in the 89th minute, giving the New York Power (3-3-0, 9pts) a 3-2 win over the visiting Boston Breakers (3-2-1, 10pts). Boston's Maren Meinert scored both goals for Boston, her fifth and sixth on the season in defeat..

German international Maren Meinert gave the Breakers an early lead when she tallied in the 13th minute. Meinert ran onto a long ball from Kate Sobrero and beat Power defender Jaclyn Raveia for the goal. New York 's best goal scoring threat came in the 17th minute on a low well-hit ball by Lindsey Jones. Boston had the better of the possession the remainder of the half and held their one goal lead going into the second stanza.

In the second half, Power rookie Christie Welsh scored her fourth goal of the season in the 50th minute. After Shannon Boxx controlled the ball in the midfield for the Power, she raced up field a good twenty yards before passing the ball down the left flank to a streaking Tiffeny Milbrett. Milbrett cut the corner and crossed the ball to Welsh, who one timed it home for the tally. It was Welsh's third consecutive game with a goal.

Power defender Margaret Tietjen saved a goal in the 64th minute, with a goalmouth block off a shot by Marcia Wallis. Two minutes later, Joanne Peters scored her first WUSA goal on a carbon copy of the Power's first goal. Boxx again moved up the left flank and found Milbrett racing toward goal. Milbrett cut a cross into the area to a streaking Peters for the goal.

Meinert's second goal of the night came in the 83rd minute, tying the score at two apiece. Kristine Lilly moved the ball forward to Angela Hucles, who took a few touches and played the ball to Meinert. Meinert took a touch and blasted a ball from outside the penalty area that beat Power goalkeeper, Carly Smolak to her right. The assist for Lilly was her eighth career assist against the Power.

Looking like the game would end in a tie, second half sub Krista Davey, capitalized on a misplay by Boston defender Kate Sobrero to pull out the win for the Power. In the 89th minute, Margaret Tietjen played a long ball, which bounced over Sobrero's foot to a streaking Davey. Davey beat Boston goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc one-on-one, for the eventual game-winning goal.

The win was the first at home for Tom Sermanni, and was also the team's first three game winning streak in their history. The game also marked the first time in 17 tries that the Power were able to erase a half-time deficit to pick up the win and ended an eight-game losing streak at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
