New York Power News Release

Oakland, NJ - The New York Power and the Philadelphia Charge played to a 1-1 tie in a preseason scrimmage played at Indian Hills High School in Oakland, NJ. The scrimmage was the fourth and final preseason match the Power will play before opening their third WUSA season April 5 against the Atlanta Beat in Atlanta.

The match was played despite heavy snow and wind at times, with the Power getting on the board first when Tiffeny Milbrett gathered the rebound from Christie Welsh's shot and slid the ball past a diving Melissa Moore.

The Charge answered in the 74th minute, when second half sub Deliah Arrington found the back of the net after she pounced on a loose ball in the Power's box. The play developed off a Charge corner kick that the Power defense failed to clear and eventually landed at Arrington's feet. She took a quick step to her right and slotted the ball past a diving Carly Smolak.

With five minutes left in the match, Krista Davey out raced Moore to a loose ball near the left sideline. With the Charge defense closing in on her, Davey took a shot from around 30 yards out that hung in the air, giving Moore a chance to race back to her line diving backwards to punch the ball away.

With the draw, the Power finished the preseason with a 3-0-1 record, outscoring their opponents 14-3.
