Power Acquire For/Mid Kim Yankowski-Montgomery from Courage

New York, NY - New York Power General Manager Susan Marenoff announced today that the Power traded forward Minna Mustonen to the Carolina Courage in exchange for forward/midfielder Kim Yankowski-Montgomery.
Yankowski-Montgomery was the Courage's sixth round pick (43rd overall) in the 2001 WUSA draft, and made All-ACC honors as a midfielder at North Carolina State University. Prior to joining the Courage, Yankowski- Montgomery helped the Raleigh Wings win back-to-back W-League Championships ('98 & '99). The 30-year-old appeared in 11 games for the Courage in 2002, starting seven of them. This will be a home coming for Yankowski-Montgomery who was born in Huntington, NY and played high school soccer at Point Pleasant Boro High School in Point Pleasant, NJ.
"Kim has shown some real tenacity and skills that can really cause fits for the opposition," said Power Head Coach Tom Sermanni. "Adding a player like Kim is another step in the process of rebuilding this team and we look forward to her making a real impact with the Power."
Mustonen appeared in 12 games for the Power last season, scoring one goal and recording two assists. The 25-year-old Finnish National Team member started six contests for New York, but only saw limited action due to National Team duty. She was a first-round selection by the Power in the 2002 WUSA Entry Draft.
