
Potomac Wins Carolina League Title

Vermont Lake Monsters News Release
The Potomac Nationals, the high Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, won the Carolina League championship on Friday night with an 8-2 victory over Myrtle Beach to win the series three games to one.
15 former Vermont Lake Monsters were with Potomac during their playoff wins over Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, including nine 2007 Lake Monsters. In addition, 32 former Lake Monster players spent time with Potomac during the 2008 season as the Nationals used a total of 66 players in finishing the regular-season with a 79-61 record.
The nine members of the 2007 Lake Monsters who were with Potomac for the playoffs were pitchers Martin Beno (DL), Cole Kimball, Jeff Mandel and Hassan Pena (DL), infielders Stephen King and Dan Lyons, outfielders Michael Burgess, Aaron Suess and Brandon Whiting.
