Poteet, Stallings Take Home Week 6 NECBL Awards

SOUTH HADLEY, MA - Logan Poteet (Sanford, C/1B, Vanderbilt) and Cole Stallings (Keene, RHP, Stetson) have been named Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively, for Week 6 of the 2023 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) regular season.
Poteet had a monster week for the Mainers in their five games this week, hitting .500 (7-14) with two home runs, seven RBI, and five runs scored. He got the week started with a multi-hit, four RBI game on July 11 against Keene in game one of the doubleheader, and drove in six runs over the course of the two games that day. He followed that up with a solo shot July 14th against the Nighthawks, adding on to his season home run (3) and RBI (19) totals. He finished the week with a multi-hit performance July 15 versus Keene, scoring three runs.
Poteet attends Vanderbilt and brings a defensive mindset to the catcher position. In high school, he was ranked the No. 2 catcher in Tennessee by the Perfect Game, hit .423 as a senior and was All-State in 2021 and 2022 before redshirting his first year with the Commodores.
Stallings pitched lights-out in his only appearance this week for the SwampBats, going 5.1 shutout innings in an 11-4 win over the Mainers on July 11, allowing only one hit and striking out twelve of eighteen hitters faced. He is looking to build off this strong outing as we approach the last few weeks of the regular season.
Stallings pitched well in his junior season at Stetson, appearing in seventeen games in relief, striking out 37 hitters in 30.2 innings of work.
