Porzio earns seventh win in 5-2 Bluefish victory

Mike Porzio led the Bluefish to a 5-2 win over the Somerset Patriots in the first game of two on Wednesday. Porzio pitched a complete game giving up just two runs on eight hits while picking up seven strikeouts on the way.

Pat Boran led off the game with a single for the Patriots and was thrown out on a steal attempt by Hector Kuilan. Nick Ortiz also recorded a single in the first before Porzio struck out Larry Barnes.

Bryant Nelson stroked a double to lead off the first for the Bluefish and the advanced to third on a sac bunt from Deivi Cruz. P.J. Rose then connected for a single up the middle to bring home Nelson.

Somerset tied the game at one when Larry Barnes hit a single up the middle with two men on, Henri Stanley scoring on the hit.

Norm Hutchins singled to left field in the third inning and scored when Nelson knocked a double over the head of Patriot right fielder Larry Barnes. Nelson then scored on a Rose single to right field.

Nick Ortiz recorded a double in the 5th inning that brought home Boran and cut the Bluefish lead to 3-2.

Rose gave the Bluefish a couple more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two-run blast over both right field walls.
