Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(STOCKTON, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks will be glad to leave the Northern Division behind. While they have made up ground by going 13-5 against the South in the second half, the Stockton Ports completed a four-game sweep of the JetHawks Friday night, defeating Lancaster 13-1. The JetHawks finish the year with just one win against the Ports in eight tries, and with a record of 13-30 against the North as a whole. With the defeat, Lancaster falls to four games out of first place in the second half race with 17 games left.
Edwin Walker made his first start since 2004 and struggled to find his control in the opening inning. The Ports jumped out in front with four hits and two walks, tallying five runs to take a lead they would never relinquish. Stockton scored at least once in each of the first five innings and scored in six of their eight turns at the plate. Only Jose Trinidad emerged unscathed amongst JetHawks pitchers, tossing a perfect eighth inning with a strikeout.
Lancaster's offense hit the ball a little better, with a series-high six hits and three extra-base hits. Their lone run came in the sixth inning when Brian Pellegrini lined a ball over the left field wall for his tenth home run of the season. Brandon Barnes had two hits and a walk while Jordan Comadena reached twice with a double and a walk.
The JetHawks road trip moves to High Desert Saturday night. Kyle Greenwalt (6-6) will pitch for Lancaster against the Mavericks' Maikel Cleto (3-7). The game begins at 7:05 and will be broadcast live online at JetHawks.com/CSN and on radio at NewsTalk 1380. The Pre-Game Show begins at 6:50.
