Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND, OR - The Portland Thunder continued training camp Monday at Tualatin Indoor Soccer, getting through the second day of acclimation practices before full-contact practices begin on Tuesday.
The team continued installing the basics of both the offense and defense, training the incoming rookies on the basics of Arena Football and conducted drills with position groups set across the field from one another.
The team looked great, according to Head Coach Matthew Sauk.
"I have zero complaints. You have 35 guys that are new to the system, 20 or so of whom are new to the game of Arena Football, and to have the quality practices we've had - it's really good," said Sauk. "I think the guys are really enjoying each other; the camaraderie is incredible."
Tuesday is the official Media Day for the Portland Thunder; interested media are asked to notify the Thunder in advance by contacting Director of Communications Brian Beaudry at bbeaudry@portlandthunder.com. The open practice will take place from 12-2 p.m. with all players and coaches being made available to the press following practice.
The Portland Thunder will kick off its inaugural season at the Moda Center on Monday, March 17th when they take on the San Jose SaberCats. Season tickets are available for purchase starting as low as $99 by calling 503-773-4AFL or by visiting www.portlandthunder.com.
