CHICAGO (June 23, 2015) - Portland Thorns FC goalkeeper Michelle Betos was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 10 of the 2015 NWSL season.

The Queens, N.Y. native came out from her position in goal to assist the Thorns in their last chance to score during the final seconds of second half stoppage time. On their second attempt of a corner for Portland, Betos headed the ball past the goal line off a cross from teammate Allie Long and put the Thorns on the board to end the match in a 1-1 draw.
The University of Georgia star is the first goalkeeper to score a goal in National Women's Soccer League history. Betos also recorded four saves in the match to go along with her game-tying goal and helped improve the Thorns' home record to 2-1-2.
In addition, the goal by Betos was featured as the No. 2 highlight in ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 on Friday night.
Betos is the fifth Thorns player to be honored as the NWSL Player of the Week. Former Portland goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc received the award during Weeks 11 and 14 of the 2013 NWSL season. Former NWSL player Veronica Boquete was honored as Player of the Week during week 10, 14 and 17 of the 2014 NWSL season, alongside teammates Alex Morgan and Christine Sinclair who received the award during Weeks 11 and 15.
Portland Thorns FC will return to action Friday, July 3 at 10:00 p.m. ET against Sky Blue FC at Providence Park in Portland, Ore.
The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
