Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND, OR - Portland's Arena Football League franchise continued to build its defensive line today, announcing the addition of rookie defensive end Jake McDonough. McDonough arrives in the Rose City after attending training camp with the New York Jets this past offseason.

"Jake is a big, physical defensive lineman," said Head Coach Matthew Sauk. "He has outstanding strength and is the kind of player that can impose his will on the man in front of him. I expect him to really press the pocket and disrupt the offense with the power that he brings to our defense."

Prior to his professional career, McDonough (6-5, 305, Iowa State) was a staple in the defense at Iowa State University. He played a versatile role in the Cyclones' front four, seeing action at both end and tackle. McDonough played in 39 games during his college career and accumulated 89 tackles with 13 tackles for loss, five sacks, and 10 quarterback hurries. As a senior in 2012, he earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference accolades and was named ISU's Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Portland opens its inaugural season at the Moda Center in March of 2014. For information on season tickets, call 503-773-4AFL. For the latest news and information, visit PortlandAFL.com or facebook.com/PDXAFL and follow the team on Twitter and Instagram (@portlandafl).
