Pittsburgh Power Add Thomas, Carter, and Lawrence to 2014 Roster

PITTSBURGH, PA (October 31, 2013) - The Pittsburgh Power have added defensive back Latarrius Thomas, defensive lineman Markell Carter, and defensive lineman/linebacker/fullback Justin Lawrence to their 2014 roster.

Thomas (6-1, 210, Eastern Michigan) signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. The safety finished his collegiate career at Eastern Michigan University earning 3rd Team All-MAC honors after recording 79 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble during his senior season with the Eagles. Prior to transferring to Eastern Michigan, Thomas attended Louisville where he appeared in 23 games, started 11, and had 43 tackles.

Carter (6-4, 265, Central Arkansas) was a sixth-round NFL draft pick in 2011 by the New England Patriots and was on the team's practice squad for the entirety of the season. He also played in the CFL for the Calgary Stampeders in 2013 before finishing the AFL season with the Orlando Predators. Carter played collegiately at Central Arkansas appearing in 42 games where he recorded 143 tackles and 16.5 sacks as a defensive end.

Lawrence (6-2, 290, Morgan State) a two-year AFL veteran comes to the Power after playing for the now defunct Milwaukee Mustangs (2011, 12) and spending training camp with the San Jose SaberCats in 2013. He has a career total of 41.5 tackles, 3 sacks, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 2 fumble recoveries. A versatile player, Lawrence has also rushed for 12 career AFL touchdowns. In college, he earned All-MEAC and All-American accolades during both his junior and senior seasons.

The Power kicks off its fourth season in the AFL in March of 2014 at CONSOL Energy Center.
