Chicago Fire FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, IL (July 27, 2007) - Chicago Fire Soccer announced that the club will host Polish Night on Saturday, Aug. 4, during the Fire's Eastern Conference showdown against the Columbus Crew (7:30 p.m., HDNet). As part of the celebration, the Fire will also host a pre-game Polish festival featuring food, music, and live entertainment. The Fire will also induct former Fire head coach Bob Bradley into the club's Hall of Fame, the "Ring of Fire," during a halftime ceremony. Former Fire captain and Poland international Peter Nowak will be a part of the "Ring of Fire" presentation and a post-game autograph session.
The Fire's Polish Night will showcase Poland's rich musical and soccer heritage, as the Fire's opponent features Polish-American midfielder Danny Szetela and former Poland international midfielder Robert Warzycha, now an assistant coach of the Crew. A special pre-game FireFest beginning at 6:00 p.m. CT will feature a concert with Polish hip-hop artist "Funky Polak," as well as performances by the Polish Highlander Children Dancers & Singers. Those interested in corresponding with the Fire in Polish can email polishinfo@chicago-fire.com or call 708-496-6699.
After the game, fans will have the opportunity to meet Fire forward Chris Rolfe and defender Daniel Woolard in an autograph session on the TOYOTA PARK east concourse (by guest services) and will receive a complimentary water bottle upon exit, courtesy of Gatorade.
"This is our second year hosting Polish Night at TOYOTA PARK and we know the fans will enjoy all the festivities surrounding the event," said Fire President/CEO John Guppy. "We feel a strong connection with our Polish fan base and expect them to once again celebrate Chicago Fire soccer and the club's strong Polish heritage."
Chicago Fire Soccer and media partner Polvision, a Chicago-area Polish outlet, are offering a special "Polvision 4-Pack", which includes four tickets to Polish Night and four "Polskie Orly" T-shirts. The first 200 tickets purchased through the Polvision 4-Pack include a special invitation to a private, post-game autograph session with former Fire captain Peter Nowak.
