Plymouth Whalers News Release

PLYMOUTH - The Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers have a long history of promoting youth and high school sports across SE Michigan. So it is only natural that on Saturday, January 24, the Whalers with sponsors Genisys Credit Union, Radio Disney AM910 and The Detroit Shock team up to host a Girls Rock! Night to recognize and celebrate female athletes of all ages who work hard to be healthy, active and confident girls.

"We are thankful for Genisys Credit Union for their generous support as well as all the resources and energy that Radio Disney AM910 and The Detroit Shock poured into the event," said Denise Ronayne, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Plymouth Whalers and Compuware Arena. "We all agree that taking a night to recognize and celebrate the young girls in our community is a night worthy of much celebration, and we hope to make this a memorable, fun and annual event."

The Whalers will host the Sudbury Wolves that night at 7:05pm, but the off-ice action starts at 6pm. Fans attending Girls Rock! Night can meet Cheryl Ford from the Detroit Shock. Ford - the captain of the three-time WNBA World Champion Shock - will be available for autographs during the first intermission along with the WNBA championship trophy for photographs. Plus, sing along to some favorite Radio Disney tunes with Radio Disney AM910. Kids and families can register to win autographed merchandise and lots of other cool prizes.

To generate added excitement and involvement, coaches, managers and the families of all girls' and women's teams can receive a group discount of $9 per executive reserved ticket when they attend the game. Plus, the team or group that brings the most people to the game will win a pizza dinner with the Whalers team in the all-new CJ's Brewing Company at Compuware Arena.
