ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY - The Akwesasne Warriors completed the North Division Finals with a dominant 10-4 victory over the 1000 Islands Privateers tonight before 1,321 at the Bonnie Castle Rec Center. After dropping Game 1 at home, the Warriors dominated the two road games and now advance to the FHL Finals.
The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 edge in the first period. Miguel Delisle, Dan Tessier, Ahmed Mahfouz, and Darick Ste. Marie tallied in the first. Alex Goupil scored the team's first postseason goal at home from Ryan Pearson. 25 seconds after Kyle Lagace made it 5-1, Goupil scored again as Tyler Fernandez and Will Laporte. Martin Beaulne and Tessier scored twice to extend the Akwesasne lead to 8-2, which included a goalie switch for the Privateers. After Tessier completed the hat trick, Evan Romeo and Ahmed Mahfouz dropped the gloves. Ryan Pearson scored his fifth of the playoffs for the Privateers on a shorthanded breakaway sprung by Justin Levac but Terry Watt tallied on the same power play just before the second period horn. Beaulne scored Akwesasne's tenth of the game, and a late power play gave Goupil the hat trick in what he claims is his final professional game. Fernandez and Pearson earned the assists. Goupil received hearty cheers from the crowd and a standing ovation after the final buzzer.
The Privateers would like to thank all their fans, volunteers, sponsors, and employees for a successful inaugural season. Orders are being taken for season tickets and advertising opportunities for the 2011-12 campaign.

Aviators sink Whalers in Game 1 of FHL semifinal series
Richard Gregory, Staff Writer, Danbury NewsTimes
NEW YORK -- This was not the way the Danbury Whalers had hoped to start their best-of-five semifinal series against the New York Aviators in Game 1 on Friday night.
Three Aviator goals in the first 6:18 of the game prompted the Whalers to switch goalies and dug a hole they could never climb out of in a 9-2 loss at the Aviator Sports and Events Center.
The crowd of 892 included a large collection of Danbury fans who made the road trip.
Jesse Felten scored a hat trick and Andrew Scampoli, Warren Galloway, K.C. Timmons, John Goffredo, Matthew Puntureri and Casey Mignone each added one goal for the Aviators.
Scampoli's goal just 1:31 in after the Whalers turned the puck over in the defensive zone started the Aviators' onslaught. Goalie Kevin Druce made 26 saves to seal the win.
Danbury's starting goalie Peter Vetri allowed three goals on the first seven shots he faced and was pulled in favor of Nick Niedert. Niedert didn't fare much better, allowing six goals on 25 shots.
Devin Guy scored the first Whalers goal at 9:29 of the first period when he banged home a loose puck from in front of the net while Danbury was on a power play. Joe Dabkowski scored the other Whalers goal at 15:22 of the third period.
The series continues with Game 2 Saturday in Brooklyn and heads to Danbury for game 3 on Friday.
