September 4, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings continue today with the 2014 Training Camp. Among the players who made the team out of Main Camp was the Wings' 3rd Round draft pick in the 2014 NAHL Draft.
Defenseman Michael Heidkamp was drafted 66th overall in the 2014 NAHL Draft by the Aberdeen Wings out of Culver Academy. Numerous players on the 2014-2015 Aberdeen Wings roster come from the academy which has won 20 state championships in just 32 years of existence. Culver Academy has also produced 22 NHL draft picks and 71 Division-I commitments.
Heidkamp is a 6-2, 185 lbs defenseman from Marietta, Georgia. Heidkamp joins former Culver teammate Daniel Billett on the blue-line.
"Michael is a smooth skating, poised defenseman who sees the ice well and makes a solid first pass," said Mike Grattan, Director of Player Development. "He comes from a great program at Culver Academy."
Heidkamp and the rest of the Aberdeen Wings in Training Camp will head to Topeka, Kansas this weekend for two NAHL pre-season exhibition games. Both games will be broadcast only on FASTHockey.com.
