
Pittsfield's Moran Named Rookie of the Year

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Pittsfield Colonials RHP Patrick Moran has been named the league's 2011 Rookie of the Year.
Moran is in his second professional season with Pittsfield, but retained his rookie status for this season because he didn't have any professional experience prior to last season. The resident of Wintersport, ME went 11-3 on the season with a 3.62 ERA. He finished tied for third in the Can-Am League in wins, tied for fifth in complete games (3) and 10th in ERA.
Starting with a win over Brockton on July 4, Moran went 8-1 in 10 starts with a 2.18 ERA. In 70 1/3 IP, he only walked 16 (with one IBB) and struck out 49 while only surrendering three home runs.
Voting for the award was conducted by the Can-Am League's eight field managers and one media member from each team.
