Quebec 11, Brockton 1

Quebec scored in five different innings en route to an 11-1 win against Brockton at Le Stade Municipal Stadium. The win was the second for the Capitales in the playoffs, while the Rox are 0-2 in the postseason. Quebec scored in each of the first three innings, and the Capitales racked up 13 total hits in the game while Brockton had just six. The Rox scored their first and only run in the top of the ninth inning when Keith Brachold batted in Mike Torres. Four different Capitales had multiple hits in the game, while right fielder Sebastien Boucher led Quebec with two hits, two runs and three RBI in five at-bats. Karl Gelinas, now 10-6 on the season, earned the win by allowing four hits, no runs, and striking out 10 batters in eight innings pitched.

New Jersey 5, Pittsfield 1

Catcher Myron Leslie hit a solo home run for New Jersey in the bottom of the first inning and helped lead the Jackals to a 5-1 win against Pittsfield in the first round of the playoff series at Yogi Berra Stadium. New Jersey scored three runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take a 4-0 lead against the Colonials. In the top of the third, second baseman Danny Bomback batted in the first and only run for Pittsfield. New Jersey added a run for good measure in the bottom of the seventh as it cruised to its first victory in the 2011 playoffs. Two different Jackals recorded multiple hits in the game, and Leslie led with two hits and two RBI in four at-bats. Isaac Pavlik, now 15-3 on the season, earned the win by allowing five hits, one run and striking out four in 6.2 innings pitched.
