Pittsburgh RiverRats hold first open tryout

Pittsburgh RiverRats Head Coach Shawn Liotta and his coaching staff held the first open tryout in team history. The Tryout was held at the teams home arena for 2007 the Rostraver Ice Garden. Fourty-nine players took the challenge of trying out for the Pittsburgh franchise with the hopes of making the teams 2007 Training Camp Roster. The players who competed in the tryouts represented all levels of collegiate and professional indoor football.

The RiverRats coaching staff put the team hopefuls through several position/skill specific drills, and tested all players in the 40 yard dash, Pro-Shuttle, and Broad Jump. "I was very pleased with the effort these individuals gave out here today, we will definitely be taking a further look at some of these players for our training camp roster," commented RiverRats coach Shawn Liotta following the tryout session. "We took the first step today in building what will be an AIFL Championship Team for the City of Pittsburgh in 2007." The Pittsburgh RiverRats will announce a second open tryout to be held within the next month.
