Pittsburgh Penguins Sign Henrich and Kemp

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed left wing Adam Henrich, it was announced on Tuesday by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

Henrich, 24, split last season between the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and Norfolk Admirals (AHL). He recorded 20 points (10+10) in 12 contests with Wheeling before being signed to a 25-game professional tryout contract with the Admirals on November 28. He went on to record 31 points (14+17) in 43 games with Norfolk.

A former second round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning (60th overall in 2002), the 6-4, 225 pound Henrich has combined for 69 points (27+42) and 230 penalty minutes in 145 American Hockey League games with the Springfield Falcons and Admirals. He has also recorded 98 points (45+53) and 246 penalty minutes in 101 ECHL games with the Johnstown Chiefs and Wheeling.

The Thornhill, Ontario native played his junior hockey with the Brampton Battalion (OHL), combining for 194 points (98+96) and 339 penalty minutes in 242 games between 2000 and 2004.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman T. J. Kemp, it was announced on Tuesday by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

Kemp, 27, posted 46 points (8+38) in 73 games with the Springfield Falcons last season. His point total was tied for third on the team, while his 38 assists placed him second on the Falcons.

A native of Pickering, Ontario, Kemp has combined for 84 points (13+71) in 152 American Hockey League games with the Peoria Rivermen, Iowa Stars, Milwaukee Admirals, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Manchester Monarchs and Springfield over the past three seasons. He also was a member of the Canadian AHL All-Stars during the 2007 AHL All-Star Game. Kemp also appeared in 60 games with the Reading Royals (ECHL) during the 2005-06 season, recording 40 points (13+27).

Kemp suited up for four seasons with the Mercyhurst College Lakers (2001-02 through 2004-05), recording 100 points (32+68) in 133 games. He made his professional debut with the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League following his senior season, recording three points (1+2) in six games.
