
Pitching Staff looks Strong for the 2012 Season

With the start of the 2012 season less than two weeks away, the Springfield Sliders have announced the signing of four more pitchers, including a member of the UIS pitching staff.
David Frank, a 5'11", 180 lb. sophomore from Anna, IL appeared in 14 games for the Prairie Stars of the University of Illinois Springfield striking out 17 batters. He is projected to work out of the Sliders' bullpen this summer.
Adam Peters, a 6'5", 230 lb. junior from Lincoln, NE started 12 games for the University of Nebraska-Kearney this season finishing 5-5 with 43 strike outs.
Starting pitcher Zac Wittmus is a 5'11", 185 lb. sophomore from Brighton, CO. He started 12 games this season at Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado and was solid for the Trojans recording 41 strike outs and a 4.29 earned run average.
Rounding out today's additions is Cody Repenning. A 6'6", 195 lb. junior from Gilbert, AZ, Repenning pitched well out of the bullpen this year for Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. He posted a 2-2 record while recording 24 strikeouts for the "ËLopes.
Head Coach Pete Romero and his staff will welcome the Sliders to town on May 24 and the first full workout will be held on May 25 at Robin Roberts Stadium. Opening day is Tuesday, May 29 against the Dubois County Bombers.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League, playing at historic Robin Roberts Stadium. The Sliders are members of the Western Division along with the Danville (IL) Dans, DuBois County (IN) Bombers, Hannibal (MO) Cavemen, Quincy (IL) Gems, and Terre Haute (IN) Rex.
