Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Walla Walla: Another Black Bears win came on the arm of its starting pitcher. Kevin Bosson (Cal Poly-Pomona) surrendered a solo home run in the first inning to tie the score at one, but regrouped to put seven consecutive zeroes on the scoreboard and record seven strikeouts.

He went out to try to get the complete game in the 9th and got two quick outs. However, a single from Brenton Allen sent him to the bench and Andrew Lines (UC-Irvine) came on to record the final out. However, Lines hit the first two batters he faced to load the bases with his team up 3-1. It took until a full count for Lines to strike out the final batter for a dramatic victory.

The Black Bears struggled to solve Sweets starter Trent Allianic, who went eight innings, giving up one earned run and striking out six Cowlitz batters. Kyle Garlick (University of Oregon) had a two-for-four night, which put him in first place on the team in hits with 19. Braxton Miller returned behind the plate after missing a few games due to injury and went one-for-three with an RBI and a run scored.

The Black Bears return to Story Field on July 3rd for a contest with the Portland Stars. After the game the team will celebrate the 4th of July with a Fireworks Extravaganza. The game is also another Elder Options Senior Sunday, where seniors get a $2 discount on tickets, and members of the Cold Stone Creamery Kids Club get in for free.
