
Pirates Recall Carey from Gwinnett

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled forward Greg Carey from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.
Carey, a 6-foot, 195 pound right wing from Hamilton, Ontario, rejoins the Pirates after a productive three-week stint with Gwinnett. Since being reassigned on January 7, Carey played in nine games and scored five goals and four assists for nine points. He scored a goal in his most recent outing last night in a 3-2 overtime defeat against the Indy Fuel in Indianapolis.
The 24 year-old rookie has played a total of 14 games with the Gladiators this season, scoring 10-7-17 with a plus-5 rating.
Carey has played in 23 games for Portland this season, scoring one goal, four assists, and five points. He joined the Pirates at the end of the 2013-14 season, playing in 13 games while scoring one goal and one assist for two points.
He signed a one-year entry level contract with the Arizona Coyotes after completing a four year collegiate career with the St. Lawrence University Saints in March, 2013. He was named a Hobey Baker Award Finalist in his senior season.
Carey will rejoin the Pirates in time for their road game tomorrow night, Game 7 of the VIP Cup Series, Presented by VIP Tires & Service, against the Eastern Conference leading Manchester Monarchs.
The Pirates return from the AHL All-Star Break and continue their seven-game road swing tomorrow night with Game 7 of the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Tires and Service, against the Manchester Monarchs from Verizon Wireless Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Pirates will also head to Bridgeport on Saturday to face the Sound Tigers, also at 7:00 p.m. You can listen to all of the action with the Voice of the Pirates, Jeff Mannix, on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, beginning with the Pirates Pregame Show at 6:40.
