"We're excited to begin our relationship with The Shipyard Brewing Company," said Brian Petrovek Pirates' Managing Owner/CEO. "Shipyard brings a world-class brand and a second-to-none commitment to our community and to organizations like Opportunity Farm. The fit is a great one for us and we look forward to building upon this relationship for years to come.

Opportunity Farm was founded in 1910. Since then Opportunity Farm has provided a safe, nurturing home for boys who had no where else to turn. The Farm has successfully served countless numbers of these young people and helped them find the path to stable, productive lives.

It is the only institution in Maine that intervenes early-well before troubled young people reach the point of crisis that leads to state custody or incarceration. The Farm makes a long-term commitment to their personal development and provides full financial support for their needs, regardless of economic circumstances and remains connected to their families.

Every resident of Opportunity Farm can count on the same thing: caring and careful adult supervision, a well-structured daily routine that includes a good mix of chores and fun, physical activity and rest, professional tutoring and regular studying; and individual counseling to help overcome the emotional challenges they face.

The Shipyard Brewing Company was founded 10 years ago by master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley. On April 24, 1994, Shipyard brewed their first batch of fine hand-crafted ale at their facility at 86 Newbury Street in Portland.

In April 2004, Modern Brewery Age ranked Shipyard among the top 10 breweries in the United States. Shipyard also placed in the top 15% of United States Commercial Breweries in 2003. Maine's largest brewery is listed as 31st out of 244 top commercial breweries across the nation.
