Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
(Wilkes-Barre, PA) The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are excited to announce the signing of Yaacov Yisrael to the AFL's New York Dragons. In his first season with the af2, Yisrael quickly became a fan favorite and impact player. The WR/DB played in all of the Pioneers games this season and helped the team on both sides of the ball. He rushed 17 times for a total of 43 yards and 5 touchdowns, accumulated 54 receptions for 687 yards and 9 touchdowns, and was tied with second most tackles for the team with 61.0.
"I'm very happy for Cov. He's a very versatile guy that can do so many things well. He always seemed to come up with the big play both on offense and defense. He was a pleasure to coach and always put the team first. New York got themselves not only a great player but a great person as well," stated Coach Rich Ingold.
The Pioneers' Organization would like to congratulate Yisrael on his accomplishments and signing with the New York Dragons. We thank him for the hard work and determination he displayed both on the field and off the field for the Pioneers. He will be missed by his supportive fans, coaching staff, and Pioneers' office staff.
