The Pioneers would like to wish everyone a happy 2003.
Schedule News: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce the team's 2003 home and away opponents have been approved by the af2. The Pioneers season will begin with a road game the weekend of April 6 against the Greensboro Prowlers. The 2003 home opener will take place the following weekend against the Mohegan Wolves. Aside from division games against Mohegan, the Albany Conquest, and the Rochester Brigade, the Pioneers will face Greensboro, the Richmond Speed, the Norfolk Nighthawks, and the 2000/2001 Arena Cup Champion Quad City Steamwheelers. Player News: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have announced that former Temple University cornerback Dante Coles has been assigned by the af2 to the team's training camp roster. Coles finished second in kick returns (8) and return yardage (173) for the Owls in 2001. Prior to attending Temple, he spent the 1999 and 2000 seasons at Valley Forge. The Pioneers can bring 35 players to Training Camp, of which 21 will make the final roster.
Dance Team News: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers announced today that auditions for the 2003 Pony Express Dance Team will be held Saturday, February 1st at Pocono Downs, 1280 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre. Registration for the tryout will take place between 9:00am-9:50am. Auditions will begin promptly at 10:00am. For information on tryout fee, clothes and camp itinerary, please contact the Pioneers office at (570) 970-4af2. Fan can expect the 2003 Pony Express squad to have a new look and a more cheer-oriented dance style.
Super Bowl XXXVII: The best place to watch all the Super Bowl playoff action (and the big game itself) is at the Waterfront in Plains. They are hosting a MAJOR party which begins this weekend. We're talking big ticket giveaways (Trips to Atlantic City and Boston), as well as free food and three big screen TVs. Or you could win the best prize of all TWO SEASON TICKETS TO THE PIONEERS 2003 SEASON. Look for returning Pony Express members to be on hand during Championship Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday.

AFL Kick-off: Don't forget about NBC's agreement with the AFL. Beginning in Sunday, February 2, the network powerhouse will be airing a weekly regional game each Sunday. Your Pioneers are planning a major kick-off event at a soon-to-be-named location with free giveaways, a score prediction contest and the FIRST-EVER appearance by our 2003 Pony Express team.
