One week from tomorrow: The Pioneers open the season on the road versus the Greensboro Prowlers (Saturday, April 5th). Are You Ready?
Player News: Former G.A.R High School stand-out Harold Jackson (who started 2002 at the Bengal's training camp) will be participating in this weekend's intersquad scrimmage. Although not open to the public, the scrimmage will be heavily covered on area sports broadcasts, as immediately following the scrimmage the coaching staff begins the difficult task of finalizing the opening-day roster.
Pioneers Radio: Dean Corwin returns to deliver all the Pioneers play-by-play action in 2003. This season, the Pioneers have joined forces with Entercom Communications (WKRZ, Froggy, The Mountain and WILK). Catch all the Pioneers games LIVE on WILK Sports Radio 910am Scranton, 980am Wilkes-Barre and 1300am Hazleton. And keep an eye out for the Pioneers players and Pony Express dance team as guests on each of Entercom's stations. THIS WEEK: Today (Friday), Joanna, Amanda and Ashley from the Pony Express team will be guest on WKRZ with JJ for the Hot Nine at Nine. Tuesday morning, four members of the Pony Express will help Psycho Mike from the Rocky and Sue Show as they help raise awareness during a charity event to raise money for breast cancer.
Coach's Show: The Coach's Show returns Live. Each week Head Coach Dean Cokinos and special guests meet with host Rob Neyhard for the hour-long call-in Show. The first show is this Thursday, April 3. Fans are encouraged to call-in to WILK to talk live with the coach at (570) 883-0098.
Important Announcement! The season tickets are in and available for pick-up at the Pioneers front office at 275 Mundy Street (behind the Wyoming Valley Mall). This weekend the office is open from 10-2 on Saturday and Sunday. ON SATURDAY, Quarterback Chris Boden and Johnathan Pittman (who left us for the Jets in 2002) will be on-hand to greet fans from 12:30-2. Get your tickets AND meet the players. Season ticket holder are able to purchase additional home opening tickets at the front office.
Tickets on Sale Now for the Home Opener: Get your tickets now for the Pioneers home opener! The game starts at 7PM, but be there by 6PM to be one of the first 5,000 fans through the doors and receive a Pioneers magnetic schedule courtesy of Wegman's Market and WB 38. Besides checking out the new team, new coach and catching up on all your favorite returning players, the 2003 Pioneers game day features a lot of upgrades including a new look and dance style for the 2003 Pony Express Dance Team, new music and effects as well as more chances for fans to win prizes than ever before (prizes courtesy of: Old Country Buffet, Army, Mojave Creative, The Waterfront, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Tobyhanna Army Depot and the Citizen's Voice/Scranton Times Tribune, to name only a few). Stick around after the game, and the entire team will return to the field to sign autographs. After autographs, all fans are invited to join the Pioneers at The Waterfront for the Pioneers post-game party. The Home Opening Night is Johnny Unitas Tribute Night. The Unitas family will be on hand as the team raises an eternal banner in honor of Unitas' stellar career. Additionally, the team will wear number 19 on their helmets throughout the season.
