Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! Weather.com is now calling for a partially cloudy 85-degree Friday. If this holds true, this means FAN FEST is ON before the Friday, June 27th home game with NFL interactive inflatables straight from the Baltimore Ravens. These are the same games you'll find at all the NFL pre-games, and we've got them here, for you, for free. Plus at Fan Fest you'll find food, drinks and interactive booths (check out the Roto-Rooter toilet paper toss). Not to mention the dance team helping to paint faces and Crockett hanging out and entertaining his little (and big) friends. The Fan Fest is 5PM until 7PM.
Friday, June 27th Home Game vs. Richmond: Last time the Pioneers faced the Richmond Speed, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton won 50-49 with a last-minute heart stopping interception by Terrell Johnson in Richmond's end zone. This week, the teams will lock horns at the First Union Arena in front of the home crowd.
For the Fans: Friday is COUPLE'S NIGHT at the arena (but don't think for a minute that the out-of-control excitement will be any more calm). McCarthy Flower Shops are giving away 1,000 flowers for the first ladies through the gates. Also, don't miss the AAA Mid-Atlantic Bahamas Getaway Giveaway â believe it or not, someone is actually walking out of the arena with a free Bahamas vacation that includes airfare and hotel. AND it is ADT night at the arena ... that means a FREE security system to one lucky winner. On top of all that, you'll get to meet some of the contestants for the Ms. Pioneers contest.
Stop by the Arena Box Office or call Ticketmaster at (570) 693-4100 or buy tickets on-line at ticketmaster.com.
Upcoming Pioneers Parties:
Sunday, June 29th: The Pioneers are saying THANK YOU to our season ticket holders this Sunday at Kirby Park. The by-invitation-only party includes the players, dance team members and Crockett. Invitations were mailed to all season ticket holders. If you are a season ticket holder but did not receive an invitation, please call Dave Raspen at (570) 270-5811.
Monday, July 7th: Pioneers/WBRE TV-28 Kids' Club members have their exclusive party at Grotto's Pizza by the Wyoming Valley Mall. Invitations are being mailed this week, but there is still time to join Kids' Club and be a part of the fun. Stop by the Kids' Club table at the next Pioneers home game and receive a t-shirt, code name and invitation, plus be put on our Pioneers/WBRE TV-28 Kids' Club newsletter list (a new newsletter each month exclusively for members).
Sunday, July 20th: The Pioneers, Rich's Golf Center and the United Way are teaming up to help raise money for charity. The entire team and dance team will be at Rich's Golf Center in Wyoming on Wyoming Avenue from 1-3 PM on the 20th. The team is there to have fun while playing miniature golf, testing their skills in the batting cages and playing on the water ride ... join the team in this good time. Rich's golf Center is donating half of all the money spent by guests between 1-3PM to the Pioneers United Way Charity Fund.
Radio Show: The Pioneers won three of the last four games. Is it team chemistry or just luck? Call into the Coaches Show tomorrow at 8PM and ask. The Coaches Show is on each Thursday on WILK - 910 AM Scranton, 980 AM Wilkes-Barre, and 1300 AM Hazleton. The number to the Coaches Show is (570) 883-0098. The hour-long show is hosted by Rob Neyhard and Coach Cokinos and includes special player guests.
THE BIGGEST PROMOTION OF ALL TIME: We want you! The Pioneers, Weekender, WKRZ, Aja Salon and Day Spa, AAA Mid-Atlantic, Premiere Tanning and Alpha Modeling Group have joined forces in an effort to find the most well-rounded, attractive, grounded and graceful woman (with a dash of arena football rowdy) in NEPA to be crowned Ms. Pioneer 2004. In addition to being crowned on the field during the final home game and participating in future team appearances, the winner receives oodles of prizes including: A Modeling Contract with Philadelphia-based Alpha Modeling Group, a free photo shoot worth $700, a weekend getaway from AAA Mid-Atlantic, a Day of Glamour from Aja Salon and Day Spa worth $300, free tanning from Premiere Tanning, season tickets for 2004, bonus prizes from the Weekender and WKRZ and MUCH MUCH more. If you are over 21 and interested in participating, watch for information in the Weekender and listen to WKRZ for details. Or e-mail "reply" with subject line "Ms. Pioneer."
Birthday Parties: Would you like to celebrate your birthday with the Pioneers? We've got a very special birthday package perfect for kids 2 â 102. With a little help from our friends at Wegman's Market, we're offering a promotional birthday package which includes a JUMBO birthday cookie, individually delivered and celebrated birthday announcements during the game and a visit by the in-stand/on-field Promo Girl Kristen Buczynski from Channel 13 news in Hazleton, Crockett and members of the dance team. For more information, call the Pioneers front office at (570) 970-4af2.
