Pioneers Keep Building the Roster

May 11, 2011 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) - Elmira Pioneers News Release

The Pioneers announced the signing of two of the top D3 players in the Northeast; Ryan Normoyle and John Rolewicz, both from Washington College.

Normoyle, a shortstop, was the team's triple crown hitter, with a .394 batting average 5 HR's and 35 RBIs.. He also has a team leading 15 SB's. Rolewicz hit a robust .355 with 2 HR's and 30 RBI's.

"They were both named to the All Centennial Conference second team." said GM Jeff Kunion. "We have received excellent reports on both these kids." stated Head Coach Dan Shwam. "Sometimes you just need a chance to play against the better competition to prove your value. Both Ryan and John should do that this summer."

The Pioneers Opening Weekend starts June 9 versus the Cooperstown Hawkeyes. The first Thirsty Thursday of the year, all drinks are $1.00. Enjoy the pregame concert and the post game Fireworks Show presented by the City of Elmira. Lucky fan giveaways include the Allegiant Air Weekend Vacation to Orlando, an HD TV, a DVD player, an MP3 player, jewelry and more.

Friday, June 10 is Buffalo Wild Wings Night, the first 500 fans receive a coupon for six free wings at Buffalo Wild Wings.
