
Pioneers continue to win over Albany 43-34

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers hosted the Albany Conquest in front of a home crowd of 4,160 at the Wachovia Arena on Saturday, June 11th.
In the tenth minute of the game Conquest Quarterback D. Bryant rushes one yard for a touchdown to give his team the first points of the game. Pioneers Kicker David Davis puts three points on the board from 22 yards with 3:17 remaining in the quarter.
Early in the second quarter Ameer Riley grabs a 16-yard pass from Kyle Rowley to give the Pioneers a 10-7 lead. Late in the half, Albany goes on a scoring run with two touchdowns in the last 0:50. Jose Harris runs the ball one yard for a touchdown with 0:46 remaining. On the ensuing kick off, Albany recovers the ball off the net on the Pioneers' four-yard line. D. Bryant finds Jeremiah Pope for a two-yard touchdown pass, giving the Conquest the lead going into halftime.
Both teams make Quarterback changes to start the second half. Jurron Kelly recovers David Davis' 50-yard field goal attempt off the net in Albany's end zone for a Pioneer touchdown. Pioneers cut the Conquest lead to 21-17. The Pioneers defense sacks Albany's Tommy Jones three plays in a row, Chris Ekwueme with two and Taso Apostolidis with one. The turnover on downs sets up Roy Olson's six-yard touchdown run to give the Pioneers the lead 23-21. Pioneers regain possession after failed drive by the Conquest. Quarterback Bryan Snyder finds Rocco Forgione with a 43-yard touchdown pass extending the Pioneers' lead 29-21. Albany starts a drive with just under 2 minutes in the quarter. Bryant completes a 15-yard pass to Manwell Talbert for a Conquest touchdown, which ends the third quarter 29-28 in favor of Wilkes-Barre.
Bryan Snyder connects with Rocco Forgione less than six minutes into the quarter to boost the Pioneers to a 36-28 lead. With 54 seconds remaining in the contest, Albany's Bryant finds Manwell Talbert for a touchdown. The two-point attempt failed leaving the Conquest trailing 36-34. Wilkes-Barre's Rocco Forgione recovered the Conquest's onside kick attempt. Forgione ran the ball 14 yards, sealing Albany's fate with his third touchdown of the game. The Pioneers are victorious over the Conquest 43-34.
Pioneers Rocco Forgione was voted Offensive Player of the Game and Ironman of the Game by the media. Chris Ekwueme was picked as Defensive Player of the Game.
