Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers announced today that the first free agent tryout camp for the team's upcoming 2003 season has been scheduled for Sunday, November 17th at the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome.
"We're thrilled that the time has come to begin evaluating new talent for 2003," said Pioneers General Manager Rick Sneed. "This is the chance for any aspiring professional football players out there to show us what they've got."
The upcoming free agent tryout will be the first of three the Pioneers plan to conduct between now and February. Last year, several players from the team's training camp and regular season rosters were discovered through free agent tryouts, including local prospects Damon Saxon and Chris Orlando and 2002 Team MVP John Knust.
Anyone interested in participating in the tryout camp may contact the Pioneers at 570-970-4af2 or 570-270-5813 to register for the event. Fees are $40.00 for early registration and $50.00 on the day of the tryout.
Hopefuls may pay for registration via cash, personal check, credit card, or money order. Personal checks will not be accepted after Monday, November 11. Only cash or money orders will be accepted on the tryout date.

Registration and workout times:
Group 1
8:00 a.m. Registration: Offensive and Defensive Linemen, Fullbacks and Linebackers
9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.: Testing and individual drills
Group 2
10:00 a.m. Registration: Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, Defensive Backs and Kickers
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Testing and individual drills

Camp Fees: $40.00 if pre-registered before November 16, 2002
- If paying by check, payment must be received by November 11, 2002

- Please DO NOT send cash in the mail
Day of camp: $50.00 cash or money order only!
What to expect: After registration, you will be tested in the following:
40 yard dash
short shuttle
vertical leap
bench press reps
Free agents will also be evaluated by the Pioneers coaching staff in drills specific to your position.
The workout will take place indoors on what is called field turf. Players are recommended to bring both cleats and turf or tennis shoes.
All players will receive lunch and an official Pioneers T-shirt.
Notice: All applicants will be required to sign waiver. Participants will receive a Pioneers t-shirt and a light lunch/dinner.
