Fresno Falcons News Release
On Monday, September 1, 2008, 11:30 a.m., approximately 15 local breast cancer survivors, including Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, renowned local artist Margaret Hudson, and Fresno Bee reporter Tracy Correa, will gather for a "Sisterhood of the Pink Parasols" memorial photo shoot as well as a "Paint the Town Pink" original painting event.
This will be held outdoors at the home of local artist and survivor Bebe Long, 566 East Terrace, Fresno.
The survivors will celebrate with bright pink parasols, representing the "Sisterhood of the Pink Parasols". Local photographer Cynthia Chapman Manuszak plans to capture an art photo image of the survivors with their parasols.
In addition, Bebe has created a large original painting, "Paint the Town Pink", representing Fresno's skyline, and each breast cancer survivor will participate with Bebe to paint a star in the sky representing herself as well as the spirits of those who have not survived.
The completed painting will be sold with other treasures in the live auction at the 3rd Annual Pink Show, to be held on Saturday evening, September 20, 2008, from 5-9 p.m. on the Patio under the umbrellas at Bentley's, Riverview Shopping Center, Friant and Fort Washington Roads, Fresno.
The Pink Show, open to the public, $10 per person, will showcase amazing black-and-white photographic portraits of local breast cancer survivors, as well as feature a stunning art sale by prominent local artists, including painters, photographers, sculptors, and jewelers.
The event will also feature gourmet food and beverages, merchant giveaways, live music, and an Argentine tango demonstration. Proceeds will benefit the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation.
