Phoenix Rising FC Acquires Claudio Repetto from Charleston Battery
February 12, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Phoenix Rising FC News Release
Phoenix Rising FC has agreed to terms with the Charleston Battery for the transfer of forward Claudio Repetto, pending USL and federation approval, the club announced today.
Repetto, 25, has also signed a multi-year contract with Rising. Details of the transfer agreement will not be disclosed.
"I know Phoenix Rising is a great organization - one that wants to win trophies," said Repetto. "That winning mentality is the reason why I wanted to go to Phoenix. I feel like I am at the right point in my career to start winning trophies. That's the mentality I have now. I cannot wait to meet the guys, see the city and get to work."
Repetto joined the Charleston Battery last season, finishing as the USL Championship side's leading scorer after recording nine goals and three assists in 24 appearances. A native of Genoa, Italy, Repetto attended Coastal Carolina in 2019 and 2020, where he scored seven goals for the Chanticleers.
"We are very excited to add Claudio to our team," said Rising head coach Rick Schantz. "His physical stature and goal-scoring record will be very helpful to our style of play. Having a target forward with his size and work rate has always been important to our style of play. He gives us the ability to play different systems and possibly combine with a second forward. His play with his back to goal is very good. He is technically gifted and gives us a lot of optionality."
Repetto spent the 2018 season with USL League Two's Ocean City Nor'Easters. He scored eight goals and two assists in 13 games.
Rising now has 23 players under contract for the 2022 season, which kicks off at Wild Horse Pass on Saturday, March 12. Fans can click here to view the full schedule.
The club's returning players include Ben Lundt, Joey Calistri, Lalo Delgado, Niall Dunn, Joe Farrell, Ryan Flood, Ivan Gutierrez, Darnell King, Kevon Lambert, Jonathan Levin, Manuel Madrid, Santi Moar, James Musa, Aodhan Quinn, Arturo Rodriguez and Luis Seijas. New arrivals for 2022 include Repetto, Greg Hurst, Channing Chasten, Baboucar Njie, Marcus Epps, Carlos Aguiano and Richmond Antwi.
