April 19, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Soul QB Tony Graziani has been placed on the team's injured reserve list following this past Monday's game against the Dallas Desperados after suffering a sprained left shoulder. In addition, the Soul have placed DL Jason Davis on the injured reserve with a torn ACL, released DB Johnnie Harris and signed WR Scottie Vines.
Graziani (6'3", 215, Oregon) started the season completing 101-of-164 passes for 1,352 yards with 28 touchdowns despite four interceptions with a 117.2 QB rating. He helped lead the Soul to its best start in franchise history with a 4-2 record through the first seven weeks of the season. Graziani was named the League's Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in Week 4 against the Colorado Crush when he completed 21-of-31 passes for 313 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions.
Davis (6'3", 322, West Virginia) will likely miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a torn ACL to his left knee during the third quarter against the Desperados. In just his rookie season, Davis played in two games and recorded half a tackle and half a tackle for a loss. He was also the recipient of a missed field goal return in Week 3 against the Grand Rapids Rampage after Mike Brown retrieved the ball off the net and relayed it to Dwayne Missouri before pitching it to Davis. He returned it the distance for a touchdown.
Vines (6'1", 204, Wyoming) joins the Soul in Week 8 after spending the past three seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. He played 19 games with the Lions between the 2004-05 seasons with 11 starts. Vines tallied 43 receptions for 468 yards after being signed as a free agent out of the University of Wyoming by the Lions. He was later signed to the Packers practice squad before returning to Detroit and being signed to the active roster on November 20, 2004.
With the new ruling passed during the off-season, once a player is placed on the injured reserve they are not permitted to play for a minimum of four weeks.
