Philadelphia Wings News Release
Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) travel west for a cross-division showdown with the Colorado Mammoth at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO on Saturday, March 29 at 9 p.m. This is the initial matchup between each team in the 2014 season. Philadelphia owns the overall series lead against Colorado (34-16).
The Wings trail the Toronto Rock in the NLL East Division by one game for the third and final playoff spot. Philadelphia remains in the post-season chase with five regular season games remaining.
"Last game [against Toronto] was an important win for us," said Wings Assistant Coach Jim Milligan. "The offense clicked and everyone is developing a chemistry of how to play together. Evan Kirk had a strong game and really helped to solidify our defense."
Philadelphia hopes to continue their offensive momentum as they travel to Denver. The Wings recorded 14 goals in their most recent win. Forward Kevin Crowley tallied six goals and three assists. Crowley had his eighth multi-goal effort of the season and is among the league leaders in goals scored with 25.
"We are trying to put a run of wins together," said Milligan. "Every game is important at this point in the season. We are looking forward to go into Colorado. It's an exciting place to play with a great atmosphere."
Colorado (5-8) is currently third in the NLL West Division. Mammoth Forward John Grant Jr. leads the team in goals, assists and points (28 goals, 41 assists and 69 points). Forward Drew Westervelt looks to exact revenge on his former squad, opposing the Wings for the first time in his career.
Philadelphia makes their way back home to host the Calgary Roughnecks on Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center.
Tickets for all Wings 2014 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
