
Knighthawks Host Rush in Battle of Division Leaders

The Rochester Knighthawks will host the Edmonton Rush on Saturday, March 29th. The game features the top two teams in the National Lacrosse League. Rochester enters the contest 9-3 and atop the East Division, while the Rush lead the West Division with an 11-0 record. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available by calling (585) 454-4295.
Playoff Update: The Knighthawks can clinch a playoff berth Saturday with a win or with a Minnesota loss to Calgary. Rochester can also secure a postseason bid with a Toronto loss on Sunday.
Pregame Festivities: The Knighthawks will hold their Annual Kids Day Saturday at The Blue Cross Arena. The event, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., will feature inflatables, laser tag, a magician, face painters and air brush tattoos. Fans must have a ticket to enter. Admission to the pregame event and the game are free for kids 12 and under.
Knighthawks Notes: Rochester is coming off a bye weekend in which it moved into sole possession of first place in the East Division, following two Buffalo losses. The Knighthawks are on a four-game winning streak after defeating Toronto and Philadelphia on consecutive nights from March 15-16. In the pair of games, Cody Jamieson recorded 17 points and currently ranks second in the NLL with 71 points and fourth with 43 assists. Dan Dawson also had an outstanding weekend, chipping in four goals and nine assists. He is third in the NLL with 50 assists and fifth in points with 64. Goalie Matt Vinc is second in the league with an 8.92 goals-against average and third with an .804 save percentage.
Playoff Rewind: The Knighthawks and Rush have met once in the postseason, which was a memorable game for Rochester fans. The Knighthawks rallied from a 5-1 halftime deficit to win the 2012 NLL World Championship title, 9-6, in front of their home crowd for the first time in team history.
Big 'D': The Rochester defense has been formidable in front of its All-Star goalie, allowing only 104 goals in 12 games. The Knighthawks rank second in the NLL in goals-against (8.67). Individually, Scott Campbell is tied for seventh in the NLL with 17 forced turnovers, while Brad Self is second in points among league defensemen with 18. Dylan Evans also sits among the top faceoff men in the league and has already won a career-high 128 faceoffs. Additionally, the Knighthawks have five players with over 50 loose balls, which includes Sid Smith (55), Mike Kirk (56), Scott Self (68), Evans (73), and Brad Self (88).
Next Game: Rochester will return to action by playing the Minnesota Swarm on back-to-back nights. The Knighthawks will kickoff the two-game set on Friday, April 4th, traveling to the Xcel Energy Center for an 8:30 p.m. game. The following night, Rochester returns home to host the Swarm at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
Adaptive Lacrosse Clinic: The Knighthawks have partnered with the Rochester Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse and No Boundaries Lacrosse to host an adaptive lacrosse clinic at The Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, April 5th. The clinic will allow children with mental, health, and physical disabilities to experience the game of lacrosse. It will run from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and is open to children of all skill levels in grades K-12. There is no cost for participation and equipment will be available for players to borrow and try out. Each participant, along with two guests, will receive a ticket to the Knighthawks game versus the Minnesota Swarm later that day.
