September 21, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) acquired transition player Kyle Hartzell from the Washington Stealth today as well as the team's fifth round selection (#39) in the 2012 Entry Draft in exchange for the Wings third round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft (#23) and its fifth round selection in the 2013 Entry Draft.
Hartzell is a four-year veteran who tallied four assists and 41 loose balls in 13 games last season. The American was also an integral part of the 2010 Washington Stealth championship winning team. Hartzell won a bronze medal as a member of Team USA at the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.
Hartzell also made history at halftime of the Major League Lacrosse All-Star in 2012, game winning his second consecutive "Fastest Shot" competition and tying a world record in the process with a shot of 111 miles per hour.
"We are very excited to get Kyle on our team. We worked hard to acquire him last year but the timing just wasn't right," said Wings Co-Owner and Executive Vice President Michael French. "He is an extremely athletic defensemen and has a lot of the same attributes of our current defenders that will mesh well on the team."
