Philadelphia Union News Release
Chester, Pa. (March 29, 2011) - Philadelphia Union today announced the launch of Union Fans Assist program, a charitable pledge program that encourages Union fans to donate to one of four non-profit organizations when the club scores a goal or holds an opponent scoreless. The initiative will benefit Help Kick Hunger, the Wheeled Scotsman Foundation, Go 4 the Goal and Chester City United.
"Our fans have consistently shown a strong commitment to helping out in the community, and we're confident Union Fans Assist will be no different," said CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. "Goals and shutouts were already cause for celebration, but now they're also meaningful beyond the white lines. We're excited to see the response from our fans and thrilled to be supporting four very worthy causes."
Union fans have the ability to choose pledge increments ranging between $1 and $50 for each Union goal and shutout throughout the 2011 season. The top overall donor(s) will be recognized at a 2012 home game as the 2011 Charitable Fan(s) of the Year, and the top 10 donors will receive a full-team autographed print. Additionally, every donor in the program will receive a Union Fans Assist Certificate of Appreciation.
At the conclusion of the season, donors will be invoiced for payment via check or credit card. 100 percent of proceeds will go directly to charity.
