
Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Two MLS Clubs Join 2011 World Football Challenge

NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, March 29, 2011) ¬" Major League Soccer (MLS) and CAA Sports today unveiled three matches in its 2011 World Football Challenge, as well as four of the participating teams, which include FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Chicago Fire and New England Revolution. Complete details regarding the World Football Challenge including all participating teams, schedule, format, and event sponsors will be announced in the coming weeks.
All three confirmed matches feature Manchester United as they take on legendary Spanish club FC Barcelona, in addition to MLS ¬â¢ New England Revolution and Chicago Fire. Along with their previously announced participation in the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 27, the Red Devils also announced a fourth stateside game, which will take place outside of the World Football Challenge, against the Seattle Sounders FC on the Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field on Wednesday, July 20 (10:00 p.m. ET).
Manchester United and the New England Revolution will clash in the World Football Challenge on Wednesday, July 13, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. The Chicago Fire will then host the Red Devils on Saturday, July 23, at Soldier Field. Manchester United concludes their participation in the event on Saturday, July 30, against FC Barcelona at FedExField in Landover, MD. These matches mark the Revolution and Fire ¬â¢s only matches in the World Football Challenge. The balance of FC Barcelona ¬â¢s participation in the challenge will be announced soon.
