Philadelphia Wings News Release
PHILADELPHIA - The Wings came out firing and never stopped as they defeated the expansion New York Titans, 20-8, Saturday at the Wachovia Center in front of 13,201 fans. The Titans scored first, but gave up the next six goals and never recovered. The team hasn't won on the road this season. Athan Iannucci and Jake Bergey led the powerful Philadelphia offense with six goals each. Sean Greenhalgh, Keith Cromwell, and Dan Marohl combined for 18 assists.
"We had a lot of things going for us tonight and we were finishing real strong on the net," said Wings' General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "It was a real good night for the boys. We have to get ready and set up for next week. We'll focus on just having a good practice. We'll have to play a full 60 minutes and have everybody running and gunning."
The Titans took the lead on their first shot of the game in the opening minute of play. But the Wings took over, scoring the next six goals. The goals all came in pairs. Sean Greenhalgh and Athan Iannucci scored first in a 24-second span.
