PHILADELPHIA (February 29, 2012) - The Soul continue to prepare for their March 18 opener on the road against the New Orleans VooDoo. While the series is split at two games apiece, the last encounter was a one-sided affair.

On May 27, 2011, the Soul defeated the VooDoo by a wide margin. A 34-point explosion before the half propelled the Soul to victory as they never looked back after taking the lead through two quarters. By the time the clock ran out, the final score was 70-49 in favor of Philadelphia.

Donovan Morgan led the Soul offense with eight catches for 117 yards for three touchdowns. Morgan is now joined by Larry Brackins, Alfonso Hoggard, Jeff Hughley, Tiger Jones, and Emery Sammons. The Soul look to duplicate the result in Week 2 as quarterback Dan Raudabaugh adjusts to his new highly-talented weapons.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: DB MICHEAUX ROBINSON (5'9, 185, Otterbein): Won an ArenaBowl championship with Jacksonville Sharks in 2011 and recorded 114.5 tackles, 11 interceptions and broke up an AFL-leading 46 passes . Was named First Team All-Arena and was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year . Was named Second Team All-Arena in 2010 . Began pro career with Orlando Predators in 2007

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Today was our second day in pads and we had a great practice out here today. Thanks to our great defenders and DBs we got after the offense a little bit," said Soul linebacker Dusty Bear. "Overall I think we got better as a team today. There are ups and downs in this game and we got to realize that and get better for it tomorrow."

LEAP YEAR: February 29 only comes around once every four years. Here's a look at some important No. 29's for the Philadelphia Soul. On February 29, 2004, the Soul's first season, the Tampa Bay Storm defeated the Soul 40-37 as Philadelphia's fourth quarter rally came up just short.

Win No. 29 in franchise history came with 2008's first victory. The Soul defeated the Orlando Predators 77-56 in their season opener on March 1, 2008 in Philadelphia.

In 2011, the time of possession for Soul opponents was just seconds over 29 minutes. The Philadelphia defense finished the season with 29 sacks. A win on April 1, 2012 in the Soul home opener against the Cleveland Gladiators gives Philadelphia home win No. 29.
